This section also covers best practices for using the equipment and troubleshooting common issues.
Next, trainees will have the opportunity to practice using the CAT and Genny in a simulated environment, allowing them to gain hands-on experience and improve their skills. This practical session will cover techniques for locating different types of utilities, such as live and dead cables, and how to distinguish between them. Trainees will also learn how to use additional equipment, such as sondes and signal clamps, to enhance their utility detection capabilities.
The course also includes a section on risk assessment and hazard identification, highlighting the potential dangers of working with underground utilities and how to mitigate these risks. Trainees will learn about the different types of hazards, including electrical, gas, and water, and how to safely approach and work around them. They will also be taught how to properly mark out utility lines using industry-standard techniques and equipment.
The final part of the course is a review and assessment of the material covered. Trainees will have the opportunity to ask any final questions and clarify any doubts before taking the assessment. The assessment will cover both theoretical and practical aspects of the course and will be conducted under the supervision of a qualified instructor.
